Rocky Plateroti established ARTISTA FOR HAIR in 1989. In his 20 years of success, the Italian-born and -trained salon owner and educator has achieved a variety of career milestones.

His most recent achievement has been the introduction of alternative salon services. For the past six years, Rocky has distributed KAARAL, made in Italy. He is the exclusive distributor for the United States. This provides another means for Rocky to share his knowledge of hair color with the world. He is dedicated to expanding the industry through educational classes and informational events.

As a platform artist and educator for schools, distributors, manufacturers and professional associations, he has shared his knowledge of innovative and artistic cut, style and color techniques with thousands of peers-nationally and internationally. His photo sessions, work and shrewd business concepts have been featured in American Salon, Modern Salon, Salon News and Process magazines. Rocky has created ingenious makeover transformations on the popular Maury Povich television show and contributed his artistry to the packaging for Copa Hair Care products.

Over the years, Rocky transformed ARTISTA FOR HAIR into ARTISTA FOR HAIR COLORGROUP to underscore its signature expertise in hair color. The salon's open, airy design and artistic ambiance reflect the importance of color. Although he is a color expert, Rocky decided not to departmentalize the salon, because he believes that each professional should have the education, talent and ability to take clients from the beginning to the end of their style journeys.

President of the New York Hair & Beauty Association, artistic innovator and renowned educator, Rocky Plateroti is dedicated to the betterment of the salon industry. He has a keen understanding of what business owners and creative stylists want most. He has recently opened the ARTISTA ACADEMY, which focuses on cut, color and texture, and offers education at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels.
