"Plateroti was among the first to raise the creative bar for hair in Westchester. Since 1989, he has set standards and, along the way, has trained or counseled many of the country's other top hair artists."

"The number one request all salons get is for 'hair with more volume.' To be able to style your hair for maximum lift, ask for 'texturing' at the crown area. A minute and barely noticeable number of strands are cut shorter than the others so when the hair is set or blown dry, the shorter sections plump up the longer strands, actually holding them up. Says Artista's owner, Rocky Plateroti, 'The secret is not to cut them so short that they stand straight up. The shorter pieces of hair shouldn't be any less than 2 inches long.'"

"Color will go in the same direction as hair is going by emphasizing texture. We're cutting in textured chunks, then pulling them out and doing interior color, with natural, botanical colors. They're done as highlights in two colors: reds and golds. It's a romantic feeling with the baroque influence of warm colors.

On the other end of the spectrum is fun color: The influence of punk is returning but in a different form. To create 'industrial color,' we're working with the whites and violet-beiges that are very pearly looking. We're also double processing hair or highlighting chunky pieces in those shades.

The first approach looked blended and natural because the reds and gold complement each other; the second technique is for those bolder clients who don't want a totally natural look. Either way, this summer, color will be fun - as it should be." -Rocky Plateroti

"There is good reason why Rocky is considered one of the best hairdressers in Westchester...he is an artist.  Brooding and intense, he considers each cut a work of art and treats each hair like an actor playing a role in your coiffure.  You'll pay top dollar for his cuts and colors, but when you consider that you wear your hair every day, it's worth every penny..."

"I love the great cuts and hair color that this salon gives. I had my entire family have their hair done in the salon for my son's bar mitzvah. It was fabulous. Each one of the stylists also does the color. So they have a complete idea in their mind."
